“Green” Terminology
These days with the green revolution in full force it can be hard to keep a handle on all of the new terminology. We often hear terms like organic or sustainable used when describing products but what does it really mean? To help sort out some of this confusion GoGreen Deliveries has listed five of the most commonly used terms when discussing eco-friendly products and services. We here at GoGreen Deliveries have included some basic descriptions and examples to help you make informed decisions when deciding on which products and services to utilize.
Recycled: Products made from a process that takes old materials and makes them into new products in an attempt to prevent waste and reduce consumption of raw materials and energy used as well as reduce water and air pollution (i.e. recycled paper manufactured using previously used paper to reduce tree consumption)
Biodegradable: Products that decay naturally helping the environment by limiting the amount of chemicals released into the atmosphere. (i.e. paper cups that will breakdown naturally in the atmosphere)
Organic: Products produced without the use of synthetic chemicals (i.e. plants grown without use of pesticides, animals raised for slaughter without use hormones or chemically infused feed)
Non-polluting: Products made using intentional steps to prevent contaminating the environment and harming people, plants or animals (i.e. non-use of
Sustainable: Products made from raw materials supplied by a source who supplies with little or no harm to the environment (i.e.-paper companies who partake in tree re-planting programs)
