With the holiday season just around the corner, American’s monthly shipping average is about to greatly increase. This season is known for catalog ordering, merchandise shipping, gift sending and the list goes on. All of this shipping also means lots of packing materials being used. Cardboard boxes, wrapping paper, styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, insulation paper are some examples of packaging that is too often used one time, tossed in the garbage and left to accumulate in our ever mounting landfills. This holiday season try to “greenify” your shipping methods. Many products are now available in more eco-friendly materials for example recycled corrugated boxes, wrapping paper made of recycled paper, biodegradable peanuts that dissolve in water, biodegradable bubble wrap and more. These items are readily available at retailers nationwide and are likely offered at your local shipping center. Another simple way to be more environmentally conscience is to reuse packaging. Hang onto boxes and packaging when you receive something if you know you are going to being shipping in the near future and reuse it. Make use of old newspaper and paper scraps to insulate your boxes, this helps to keep your things well protected while reusing old newspaper which can later be recycled . And of course always recycle whatever you can of packaging if you have no plans to re use it. All of these practices combine will greatly help to reduce waste and help protect our environment.

Fulfillment is a large and important link in a product distribution chain. In small business, companies will often bite the bullet and fill this role themselves in an attempt to cut costs. While the intention may be to cut costs, performing fulfillment services can come with a hefty bill. By utilizing a third party fulfillment service, such as GoGreen Deliveries, small businesses alleviate themselves of any cost associated to get the job done. Overhead for such services can be quite substantial if one takes into account costs for facility, labor, insurance, overtime etc. – not to mention the added headaches. Quality control is another advantage of contracting out fulfillment services. Like in any line of work, things are best done by professionals who have much knowledge and experience in their field. This same rule applies to fulfillment. GoGreen has time proven quality control measures in place to get the job done right while simultaneously implementing methods to ensure the highest level of efficiency. These two factors help to protect today’s most valuable asset- company reputation and integrity. By outsourcing fulfillment needs, it also frees up time allowing companies to focus on cultivating other opportunities rather than being bogged down with a lot of little details. As these opportunities present themselves fulfillment services help businesses increase their customer & earning potential. They eliminate situations where a business shys away from a big opportunity out of fear of being unable to meet the demand or overextending themselves. This in turn yields rapid and successful growth something everyone wants to do-especially in today’s economy!!

Greenifying your cleaning products is a great way to make a positive impact on your carbon footprint. These days all the top manufacturers have jumped on the eco-friendly band wagon and have come up with some great alternatives to our otherwise toxic, environmentally harming cleaning products. Next time you stroll your grocery store cleaning isle keep an eye out for the wide variety of cleaning products and solutions now available in environmentally friendly formulas. Non-chlorine bleach is now being offered utilizing hydrogen peroxide, sodium per carbonate or other plant based disinfectants as active their ingredients. Eco Friendly products also include all purpose cleaners, glass and surface cleaner, kitchen cleaners, shower, tub and tile cleaners, floor cleaning solution, carpet and upholstery cleaners, phosphate free dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, stain removers, biodegradable vacuum bags, biodegradable trash bags and the list goes on. With such products growing in popularity their prices are coming down and becoming more and more competitive. In addition to using non toxic cleaning products here are some other measures to help you to be a greener cleaner: use low energy consuming appliances (i.e. vacuum, dishwasher, washer and dryer), use a broom to clean up small messes versus a vacuum, don’t leave water running when cleaning, use reusable towels over paper, avoid any aerosol products. All of these practices in combination with green products help to you to keep your house and the environment clean!

Eco friendly vehicles popularity has grown exponentially in recent years. Today there are countless options of hybrid and high fuel efficient vehicles available to consumers. The government is even jumping on board and offering great incentives to encourage the public to “Green” their transportation. While this is a huge step in the right direction, we have found even more ways to make your vehicle as environmentally friendly as possible. Below I have listed 5 additional opportunities to be earth conscience.

1.	Recycle your used tires. Used tires can often times be re-treaded, restoring them to good, safe, usable tires. Retreaded tire are also more cost effective and can even last longer than brand new ones. In instances where a tire is too damaged or worn to be retreaded it can be recycled into new rubber products rather than just taking up space in a landfill. Many tire retailers offer retreaded tires for purchase so next time you go to purchase request re-treaded.
2.	Next time you change your vehicle’s oil use re-refined oil. Re-refined oil is previously used oil that has been filtered and cleaned of additives and impurities. Re-refined oil is just as good as new and meets standard industry specs for performance. When it comes to discarding of your used oil, send it back to manufacturers who re-refine oil.
Such manufacturers include:
Chevron ECO
Evergreen Motor Oil
Safety-Kleen. America’s Choice
Lyondell Enviroil
3.	Like oil, engine coolant can also be recycled. Recycled coolant helps to reduce the amount of chemicals released into the environment. When it come to purchasing recycled coolant keep this in mind propylene glycol (PG) is much better than ethylene glycol. (A helpful reminder for this is to think PG = pro green). PG is significantly less toxic to pets and wildlife that of like the sweet taste of ethylene glycol that leaks out onto driveway and roads. So next time you are in need of engine coolant remember recycled propylene glycol.
Good examples of coolants:
Fleetguard Complete
Sta-Clean Products Inc. Antifreeze
Safebrands Sierra and Sierra Fleet
4.	Recycle your vehicle parts. Many auto parts have the ability to be re-manufactured for reuse. Makers re-manufacture these parts (i.e. starters, alternators, water pumps etc) and retail them to the public. If the parts are not eligible re-manufacturing recycle them to a scrap yard.
Company known for it re-manufacturing:
Delco
5.	Choose environmentally conscience cleansers when cleaning your vehicle. We all like to drive a clean car but be sure the products you are buying and using to clean your vehicle are environmentally friendly. Good clues to look for on the labeling are words like, non-toxic, biodegradable, phosphorus free, aqueous based etc.

“Cash for Clunkers” is a heavily discussed topic these days. As you have probably heard, Cash for Clunkers is a government program that offers consumers $4,500 for trading in old gas guzzlers that is then applied to the purchase price of a new, more fuel efficient vehicle. This is an added benefit to both the consumer and the environment. Initial statistics on the program are reporting nothing but good things. According to early reports, consumers who turned in old vehicles through Cash for Clunkers increased their car’s fuel efficiency by almost 62%. The typical trade in averaged 15.8 mpg where as the new cars mpg increased to an average 25.4! Trucks account for 83% of the vehicles traded in and of the newly purchased vehicles 60% are cars. Not to mention, the new cars eligible for the $4,500 incentive are 18% more fuel efficient compared to other new cars on the market. When considering all of these factors combined, this means big strides for the environment and cutting down on harmful emissions. Don’t worry about the consumer, they too are reaping the benefits of Cash for Clunkers. In addition to $4,500 incentive, buyers are saving on average $700-$1,000 per year in fuel costs, driving new, safer vehicles and have lower repair costs. As if these benefits weren’t good enough, Cars for Clunkers is also said to be helping to jump start the auto industry. The rise in demand for new cars from this program is helping to begin the recovery process and with that comes jobs. If Cash for Clunkers is as great as it seems we have struck Green!

Individuals and companies alike are competing for their place in today’s Green marketplace. With sustainability at the forefront of everyone’s mind, the greener you are the more green you are likely to see. How is it then that we decipher who is truly “green”? Some companies make big claims of their eco-minded business practices, yet with a closer glance we discover that they over promise and under deliver. This is commonly referred to as Green-washing. By definition green-washing is “misleading consumers about the environmental practices of a company or the environmental benefits of a product or service.” As a practice green-washing is becoming ever more present, being well-intended consumers we need to do our due diligence to avoid such false assertions. A common green-washing scheme occurs when a business over emphasizes their day to day implementation of eco-friendly business practices. For example, any office can throw a recycling label on an empty bin, empty every so often and boast about their in office recycling program. A good safe guard against these types of misleading claims is to inquire about the company’s programs. When considering a company ask questions such as; in what ways are you green, how do your green programs work, what organizations help to support your practices (i.e. what recycling company is being utilized). Any true Green business has the third party references to authenticate their commitment to sustainability. I can say first hand as a legitimate green business owner, I am proud to provide anyone inquiring with all of our information.

Online marketing is an ever present and growing media. If you have not yet begun to utilize internet marketing there is no better time to start. These days with everyone watching their dollar, internet advertising is a great solution to keep your name and company image in front of prospective clients while also keeping a tight rein on your budget. As research has shown, online advertising is relatively inexpensive and highly effective in business return. While online marketing can be complex, many methods have been made available that can allow any small business to make a splash and keep its dime. Many programs are now accessible for businesses to “do-it-themselves” when it comes to web advertising. Social networking sites such as MySpace, Face Book and Twitter are great ways to get your business products and services out in front of potential clientele. Even such sites as Craig’s list can be a good networking/advertising approach. If you have ever logged onto Craig’s list and entered any general search you often find companies soliciting business. For example if you search on Craig’s list for carpeting you will likely see a few ads for carpet installers. The likelihood that an individual looking for carpet may want someone to install it is relatively high. Also a webmail campaign can reach a vast number of prospective customers while saving the cost of print materials and postage to disperse such ads. An added benefit is all of the previously mentioned advertising methods are equally good for the environment. Such tactics help to cut down paper consumption, eliminate production pollution, and reduce overall waste. With such large benefits for company pocket books, business marketing campaigns and the environment there is no reason not to start your own online advertisement today.

How a Recession can be good for business
Recession, economic downturn, business decline; these are words we hear constantly these days when discussing business. With each of these words come feelings of fear, stress and uncertainty. While no one ever wants to be part of these scenarios, there are benefits that come from recession for both small business and consumers alike. Typically during a recession small business is hit hard, often feeling the brunt of the strain. It is because of this during a downturn small business focus shifts. Companies direct their attention to cash flow, expense reduction, cost containment, customer satisfaction and retention and outright survival. Business’ that formerly operated in a loose manner, often with little knowledge of when/where money is coming and going and overall efficiency, now transition to be fine tuned, well oiled machines operating at optimal competence levels. Business productivity and innovation again emerge as core principals and customer value is at an all time high. Economic strain is often a catalyst for small business innovation and rethinking. Businesses have to adapt, whether it be offering new commodities and services or simply refining current products and procedures. As consumers we reap the benefit of better, more efficient vendors. Times of decline helps businesses to “trim the fat” and redefine the customer’s opinion of them through hard work and good products and services. Recession is kind of like of fire under the butt of small business helping them to evolve- a necessary evil in ways. So while we are all feeling the pain of the state of our economy there is a silver lining.

We here at GoGreen Deliveries know owning a business takes space. Whether your business is a traditional storefront shop or focuses more on online sales, the need space for is the same.
